Steve brings his incredible wealth of expertise to support LCA’s Planning, Engagement, and Politics team in enhancing engagement capabilities and developing benchmark co-design processes that help clients maximise social value outcomes. An architect by training, Steve has over three decades of experience in urban and peri-urban regeneration. He founded and led Soundings and Fluid – much respected consultancies in the built environment sector – and is credited with being a prime mover in codesign, participatory urbanism and effective community engagement. His project portfolio includes the Kings Cross redevelopment, the London Olympic and post-Olympic masterplans, and the placemaking strategy for the Royal Docks.

Steve has contributed extensively to academia, establishing the City Design Institute research Centre of Excellence and the City Design MA at London Metropolitan University. During this time, he also advised the Council of Europe, shaping policies on equitable regeneration and youth engagement.

A fan of diverse pursuits, Steve is a multi-instrumentalist and singer (hear him on a top-ten U.S. chart recording of Divine Comedy), a (former) scuba-diver, a boxing running and Pilates fan, and may be the only person in history to have read all 33 of Donna Leon’s Commissario Brunneti novels, set in Venice, which he warmly recommends.
