Accelerators: Homes Without Buyers: The Demand Dilemma

19 May 2026

On Tuesday 19 May, we hosted a special Accelerators event in the London Pavilion at UKREiiF.

This dynamic panel discussion shifted the focus from housing supply to demand – asking whether we are delivering homes people can afford, access, and genuinely want, when delivery ambitions continue to rely on dense, urban schemes. Consumer confidence in new-build flats has been eroded. Young people feel priced-out. First-time buyers have no meaningful government support, and the build-to-rent sector is cooling. What next?

Our distinguished panel featured:

Tom Goodall (Related Argent)
Richard Stearn (Berkeley Group)
Nina Coulter (Savills)
Prudence Ivey (The Standard)
Joana Averley (Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government)

The event was chaired by LCA Chief Executive, Jonny Popper.
